Worldwide, many countries have placed a ban on paraquat, which is a toxic weed killer so deadly that ingesting just a sip can kill you, according to The New York Times. Surprisingly enough, the use of paraquat in the United States is rising and doubled in 10 years.  This massive increase has exposed many farm workers and rural residents to the risk of developing Parkinson’s disease. Research on the subject has been printed in many reputable journals that show the link between paraquat and Parkinson’s disease such as JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) Neurology.

Paraquat Herbicide: What Is It?

In addition to being a fast-acting herbicide, paraquat is also non-selective. Some of the manufacturers that produce this toxic herbicide include Syngenta, Innvictis Crop Care LLC, Helm Agro and Drexel Chemical Company. Trade names that use paraquat include:

Syngenta, Growmark and Chevron USA have all been sued so far for injuries caused by paraquat.
