
Two people lost their lives, and two others were injured in a recent Hinds County fatal collision involving multiple vehicles on Highway 18 near Cidero Road. The crash occurred shortly before noon and involved a 2018 Cadillac XT5, a 2008 Toyota, a 2018 Nissan Murano, and a 2020 Dodge Ram.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the Cadillac collided head-on with the Toyota, subsequently side-swiping the Dodge, which caused the Toyota to crash into the Nissan. Tragically, Melissa Berryhill Spencer, 45, of Utica, the driver of the Toyota, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Cadillac, Glenn W. Matthews, Jr., 39, of Vicksburg, succumbed to his injuries later that day. He had been airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson but passed away shortly after 9:00 p.m.The driver and passenger of the Nissan were also taken to UMMC to be treated for injuries following the Hinds County fatal collision. Meanwhile, the driver of the Dodge was unharmed in the crash.
