Memorial Day, the last Monday in May, honors those who have died in our nation’s wars and became a federal holiday in 1971.
The day was originally called Decoration Day, where flags and flowers were placed on the graves of veterans in local cemeteries.
We remember and honor those that have fallen in service of our country.
