McDonald’s Quarter Pounder Linked to E. Coli Outbreak

If you've eaten a McDonald's Quarter Pounder and have E. coli symptoms, please see your healthcare provider immediately.

One person has died and dozens have been injured with E. coli infections after eating McDonald’s Quarter Pounder hamburgers. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported injuries in numerous states, and it’s unknown if all states have received contaminated ingredients.

CDC investigators have focused on two ingredients: fresh slivered onions and quarter-pounder beef patties. McDonald’s has stopped using these ingredients and has removed Quarter Pounders from the menu in several states while the investigation is ongoing.

According to the CDC, the true number of injured people is likely much higher than the number reported, as many people have recovered without medical care or are not tested for E. coli.
