Injuries Aren’t Festive – Here’s Some Firework Safety Tips

As we gather to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, food, and patriotic spirit, let’s also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day—our nation’s independence and the freedoms we enjoy.

As we gather to celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks, food, and patriotic spirit, let’s also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day—our nation’s independence and the freedoms we enjoy.

While it’s a time for joy and celebration, it’s also one of the most dangerous weekends of the year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Fourth of July consistently ranks among the deadliest holidays due to impaired driving and firework-related accidents.

A Few Safety Reminders:

  • Don’t Drink and Drive: Plan a safe ride home or use a rideshare service if you’re drinking.
  • Supervise Fireworks Closely: Children should never handle fireworks, and even sparklers can cause serious injuries.
  • Follow Local Laws: Only use legal fireworks and observe any local restrictions or burn bans.
  • Have Water Nearby: Keep a bucket of water or hose close in case of fire.

Each year, thousands of people end up in emergency rooms due to firework-related injuries—many of which are preventable. This Independence Day, let’s celebrate responsibly and keep our communities safe.

From all of us at the Diaz Law Firm, we wish you a joyful and safe Fourth of July!
